About the business and Me
My name is Amy, I am the proud sole owner of When Butter met Sugar.
I started the business from home in 2021 when my hobby began to gain in popularity over lockdown.
Thanks to my nan, I have been baking since I was 4 years old and haven't stopped. I have always dreamed of opening my own cake and coffee shop. On 26th May 2023 that dream came true!

On 10th April 2023 I got the keys to my own shop and thus began 6 and a half weeks of tough renovations. As we were on a budget and I wanted to get the shop open as quickly as possible, we decided to do as much of the renovation ourselves as we could. So we ripped out everything we didn't need and tried to save as much as we could to use later on. We knocked down a wall to make a doorway, replaced some old plasterboard, plastered the entire room, laid down laminate flooring, painted, decorated, put together a LOT of flatpack furniture and made a few mistakes haha. But it was all worth it in the end, even if I did have plaster in my hair for a week.
I am so grateful for all my friends and family's help, I can't thank them enough for helping make my dream come true!
